It was a long weekend. Quite a few little things were accomplished. Of course, Dollor got lots of runs. Even a little photoshoot.

I canned, jerked, and ground up some elk for a friend that is battling cancer. She understands I am not a professional processor. They are in the middle of a medical nightmare, so I volunteered to help them with some of the meat. They were out of freezer space, canned meat will help. After that was done, we started on a mini-kitchen remodel. We had a microwave above our oven. It died in a horrible hardboiled egg accident. We finally took it down. I've ordered a backsplash. We are anxiously awaiting a handyman visit. Our oven died. Thankfully, not the stove. My parents have had the same ovens since their home was built. Mine is only 11 years old. The handyman warned us that if it is the ignitor, it is impossible to find a new one. They do that so you have to get a new one. Argh. I am happy to have the microwave out. Although the drywall anchors left huge holes in the wall. Hopefully the backsplash I bought works. Otherwise, my little kitchen remodel gets bigger, because I will have to patch holes and repaint. I also spent the weekend re-organizing the bathroom and my closet. Somewhere in all of that I made a chocolate raspberry cake. Then since it was so miserable out, we cleaned the mounts and did some serious dusting of the logs.
If Dollor looks miserable in this picture it is because we are. This has been the windiest winter ever. Again, this weekend the temps dipped and the wind blew.
I was heading to work when this sunrise appeared. I so love sunrises and sunsets. The colors are so beautiful. I never get tired of them.
How old is your oven? Any remodeling projects this winter? Has it been windy?
When we moved in here in 2020 we had the oven stop working. Repairman said it was the mother board so he repaired it. A year later it happened again and again it was repaired. We also put the oven on its own circuit and that has helped. I always listen for the igniting of the gas and occasionally it fails. I wait and try again and eventually it works again. It will give out one day and we will replace the whole stove/oven.
ReplyDeleteI love your top picture. How cool to be see the Northern lights over your house. Your dog is so cute. How nice of you to do all of that canning for your friend. Oh gosh, ovens and appliances. I feel like I am on a treadmill with them. My husband calls it planned obsolescence. It is so pretty at your house though.
ReplyDeleteOur newish cooker had a fault last November 2024 and because it was nearish to Christmas we bought s new one, and so pleased we did..beautiful skies!
ReplyDeletemy oven is not old, i think i have had 3 in this house that we built in1984. the oven we have now has to be lit with a bic lighter, i refuse to replace it. when i got this one they ripped my kitchen floor and never paid to fix or replace it. we recently did some updates in the house, we have no more planned...hopefully, nothing breaks. they do noy make appliances like they used to. so nice of you to help out your friend, being ill and dealing with insurance issues is exhausting!! i saw the northern lights also, a month or so ago right in my backyard. dollor is a dorable!!
