Christmas cookies are one of my favorite traditions.  I make them every year.  They remind me of my Grandmothers.  Grandma Hyde gave me the cookbook I found the recipe in.  Grandma Gregg gave me the tins that I keep my cookie cutters in.
White Cut out Cookies
2/3 c. butter            1 t. soda
1 c. sugar                 1/2 t. salt
1/4 c. milk                1 t. vanilla
2 eggs                     3 c. flour
1/2 t. almond extract

Cream butter, sugar, and eggs.  Dissolve soda in milk, vanilla, and almond extract.  Add to sugar mix and add flour and salt.  Chill for 1/2 hour.  Roll out on floured surface.  Cut out cookies.  Bake at 400 degrees, until slightly browned on the edges.  Frost, decorate, and enjoy.
Merry Christmoose!

  1. Traditions handed down from grandmothers are so special! I love the colorful cookies!! Thanks for sharing the recipe.

  2. What no Martha or a bowl on the head? That is one tradition that was lost with the children:(

  3. They look yummy.
About the question on my blog I write mine out, then use word to type them out then I print BUT after I figured out you can highlight your blog post then copy CTRL C then paste CTRL V to your word program. You can then print from there. That is the easiest way it took me forever to figure this out. It is much faster if you have any problem email me and I can see if I can help you more.
Hope that helps I would cry if I lost my blog it feels like it is a big part of my soul now. Sad but true. Merry Christmas. B

  4. I was just going to do some Welsh cakes my Grans Christmas tradition.

  5. Those look delicious! Baking cookies is also a favourite tradition in my household.
