I will never forget my first trip to Minnesota to meet my husband's family. All I could think of during the drive was, "This must be where Fischer Price got the template for their red barn play set." Everywhere I looked there was a barn and a silo. I made it a point on this trip to take some photos. I want to thank both my husband and my in-laws for indulging me in my constant requests to stop so I could get a photo. Sometimes I just rolled down the window and committed a drive by shooting (or should I say photographing?).
Every barn has something different to offer. They can be in a valley, unpainted, surrounded by buildings, and animals or high on a hill clean, well painted, and uncluttered.
This is my favorite. I don't know who Darlene is, but she must be a special lady to get a whole barn roof as a birthday card.
I also liked to Barn Charm
These are wonderful pictures. I've been known to do some drive by photography as well. You should link this to Barn Charm at Bluff Area Daily.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful barns! I am addicted to them! I take pictures of them every time when we are on the road. There is something in them that touches our hearts, don't you think so?
ReplyDeleteLovely selection,I call them prairie palaces.I have had a lot of fun playing in them, and often pull over to get a good shot.
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures! I think you're right about Fisher Price getting their barn template there..it's a perfect match! Cheers, Jenni

ReplyDeleteI love barns and the history and stories behind how they're built they way they are. I grew up in Kentucky and never knew there were so many different types until I married my husband from Wisconsin!
ReplyDeleteI love barns too! Great pictures!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this post, love the barn photos. I've always thought an excellent idea for a c coffee table book would be barns!
ReplyDeleteJust think of all the men that could get together and "talk" about how much our photographing impacts them lol on every drive and walk we are stopping - Keeps them on their toes.
Bonnie, I love these photos! My mother once took a trip to the eastern shore of Maryland and came back to do watercolors of the barns she saw. I'm happy to say I have several of her paintings and I have to admit I'm kind of addicted to them also. XOXO
ReplyDeleteOh Bonnie! I see the barn bug has bitten you as well! These are lovely barns and I'm so glad you were able to capture them! :) Thanks for sharing at Rural Thursdays this week! xoxo

ReplyDelete.....haha, I'm thinking Darlene has to live with that on the roof for a while --- and then there's you taking a picture of it and sharing it with the world. LOL (you must link this post up with Barn Charm)
ReplyDeleteI just spent the time going through your right sidebar of pics and quotes. Did I enjoy that!!!! You must publish it as an e-book! It's already written. Think about it.
ReplyDeleteI love the barns! I love driving through countryside that's populated with lots of farms and noting all the old barns mixed in with modern barns and outbuildings....
ReplyDeleteThat is just great. I am so glad you got pictures. I love seeing the different kinds of barns across the country. I love that there are silos.

ReplyDeletegreat barns and i love that last one too!!
ReplyDeleteFantastic barns. The one my grandfather built is still standing, but we keep hearing it will be torn down. We are hoping to get some of the barn boards if it does.....we will find something to make out of them.

ReplyDeleteWow, fantastic old barns! Love your shots!
ReplyDeleteOh, gosh, these are al wonderful, but think Darlene is my favorite, too.
ReplyDeleteDarlene is so nice :D
ReplyDeleteIndeed that was a very promising trip! One thing I love about going somewhere for a trip that is quite far from the city is the idea that it gives me the chance to see some great new places and take some pictures. Mind this, the barns are really very great! Come in different designs and are really huge.
