A winter's day...

It has been a wonderful weekend.  I finished the top to my quilt.  I bottled my favorite raspberry wine and made rolls for the an annual awards banquet.  I even managed to clean and do some organizing around the cabin.

I've been making plans for next year's garden.  I read The Square Foot Garden.  I have somewhat followed the theory in the greenhouse and am excited to expand it to the my new outdoor beds.  I also read The $64 Tomato.  I found it quite funny.  Probably because the truth hurts:)
Everything is pretty quiet around here.  The roses are all tucked in.  We haven't had a lot of snow.  It has been quite cold.  I wandered around and took some photos of the first snowfall of 2013.

Ella is enjoying fun in the snow.  She tears around in the drifts.  More than anything she loves to ride in the truck when we plow.
Kelly and Ella were able to get the property cleaned up a bit and burned some piles.  Our goal is to plant a Christmas tree in that spot next year.

All in all a great peaceful and productive weekend.  I hope everyone enjoyed it as well.

  5. The frost in your last photo looks like lace! And the first picture of the snow-covered trees towering over the swing is lovely too. I actually had a very non-productive, lazy weekend, but that was fine. We have been socked in with fog here for days now, and temps that barely make it above freezing.

  7. Bonnie, your yard is magical! I love snow if I can just stay in, bake, quilt, read, watch old movies, and organizing. However, that only lasts a day or two before I need to get out and remember they don't clear our roads! We've not had snow, but it has been very cold (at least for us) and there is a pretty decent ice layer on the lake. Stay warm and enjoy your wonderland, XOXO

  9. Isn't it fun to plan the spring garden when there is snow on the ground? I have always wanted to read Square Foot Gardening, but haven't yet. Thanks for the reminder. Love that frost photo.

  10. Bonnie, the weather is about the same, but my scenery isn't as glorious as yours! I've got to start thinking about ordering seeds, but am lazy. Love the frost pattern on the window, just gorgeous.
