The perfect fall day...

Saturday was the perfect fall day and I had the perfect cold.  I have a sore throat and fever.  Still, Ella and I enjoyed some time on the porch in the sun.  I also went on photo safari.  The colors and the wildlife were perfect.

This dang hummingbird won't leave.  It is snowing today and she is still here.  I keep fretting whether or not I should take the feeder down, but everything I have read I'm supposed to keep it up.  The articles say the hummingbird's internal clock will tell it to go.  Well, this birds clock is slower than molasses running uphill in January.  I love hummingbirds, but she needs to head out.

The roses and butterflies are a joy to see.  The butterflies are still pretty prevalent.    It is fun taking photos of them.

I ordered a set of 50 foot lights for the porch and I love them.  They create a soft glow that is very peaceful.  I am extremely pleased with the purchase.

Welcome October.  Even with a cold you are the perfect season.  My flowers may be on the demise, but the leaves pick up the slack.  I look out our windows at the beauty in which we live and I am thankful.  What are you thankful for?

Mrs. Hummer will leave I bet soon enough. Your trees have changed to such pretty colors. I can see them at the end of the porch in this last picture.
I am thankful for fall. I do love it as long as it lasts. I hope you feel better soon.

  2. Wow! Those are some amazing photos! Poor little hummer, maybe you should bring her in for winter😉 We got snowed on this morning - I'm not quite ready for that.

  3. Both of my kids and daughter's boyfriend are sick now, too. Hopefully yours runs its course quickly. I really like your porch lights. I understand how you feel about that hummingbird, but hopefully natural instinct will kick in. -Jenn

  4. The first thing I noticed when I opened your post, was the beautiful lights on your porch. Good choice! It's very warm and welcoming! I just love looking at your nature pictures. The little hummer is quite cute! Hope it gets the nudge to head south soon! You know...you should make cards and sell them. Just sayin'!

  7. Beautiful pics. I can't believe you still have hummingbirds around. Your lights look so beautiful. Will you share where you found them? I like the soft light, not that weird blue LED look. Please feel better soon!

  8. Sorry to hear you're under the weather, I hope it passes soon. Your little hummingbird is really procrastinating on leaving, how odd. I love your lights, I have six sets of solar lights which aren't very bright, but add a nice glow to the garden. Your home is so beautiful. :-)

  9. Is the hummingbird still there? I see why you are worried about her. I'm thankful for a wonderful trip to Scotland and staying healthy the whole time. Sorry to read about your cold. Hope you're on the mend.
