I couldn't do it. I had to complete at least one project this weekend. It has been too many weekends without working on something, other than homework.
This week I got a new computer at work. Our tech guy was not impressed with the cobbled moniter shelf of speakers and a board. I have to raise my monitor or I get a pinched nerve in my neck. The new monitor is bigger and isn't overly stable on my improvised shelf. We have plenty of scrap lumber in the barn, so I grabbed a short board and a two by four. Volia! In one hour I had a stable computer shelf.
I am so glad my husband taught me woodworking. I may not be good at the fine details, but I know enough to make what I need.
That is it for excitement. The wind is howling and the snow is vicious. We had a couple of nice hours this morning. Enough for Ella and I to get our weekly snowshoeing run.
I hope the weather is good where you are. Do you know your way around a wood shop? Who taught you?
It's sooo nice to have such handy dandy skills! That looks like a solid shelf!
ReplyDeleteI have spent lots of time in a wood shop, but have never refined my own skills. I would hang out with my Grandpa, who was a cabinet maker, and a master at lathe work. Later, I would hang out with my Dad, who was also a cabinet maker in later years, and he could make/fix just about anything! He and my mom now live next to us, but in down sizing, he sold most of his commercial grade woodworking tools! He is still full of wisdom, however, and can help if I have questions!
I took my first shop in 7th grade and used those basics to learn even more.I worked with my grandfather a lot building homes at an early age. Love your project
ReplyDeleteI love your new computer table. I think it is so awesome.
ReplyDeleteYou do know your way around a wood shop.
Your weather sounds so cold. I love working with wood. I have my own saw.
Nothing settles me down like working with wood.
Though, not near to your level though. Have a lovely week.
The wind is bitingly cold at the moment. I can do bit’s mad pieces of wood working, We had woodwork and metalwork lessons at school. One project was to make a coffee table and in my wisdom I had to choose to make mine kidney shapes.
ReplyDeleteThis is indeed a very different winter for us. I am used to cold wind and snow but the cold is a bit more intense with the wind here. Take care. B
