It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

There is construction down the road.  We are not the least bit excited about having neighbors.  It was great being the end of the road.  There is only one positive to this... Somebody will actually see our Christmas lights.  We are super excited because nobody ever sees our lights. In fact, we even added a few more lights.  Now if they would just drive by when the lights are on.
I've never been very good at taking photos of Christmas lights.  The camera doesn't quite capture the true feelings lights evoke.  Anyway here is my attempt.  The brilliant blob in the corner of the porch is our one horse open sleigh.
We have always wanted an outdoor Christmas tree.  Our cabin is too small to have one inside.  My wonderful husband stomped down the snow and put lights on our new little tree.  It is out in the middle of nowhere, but it looks fabulous.  I also made a wreath for our door.  We really got into the Christmas spirit.

We saw the bighorn sheep for the first time in a long time.  We were on a four lane highway with nowhere to stop.  I wish we could have as they were so majestic jumping around on that sidehill.  You have to look really close to see them.  Below are Mother Nature's Christmas decoration.  Isn't it a beautiful little nest?  It is stonger than it looks.  It is in there pretty solid.  It amazes me they can weave it on there so we'll using only their beak.

That is all I know this week.  Do you have your Christmas lights up?  Do you have an outdoor Christmas tree?  What is your favorite part of the Christmas celebration?

  1. How beautiful your cabin looks! I wish I could drive by to see your lights (and your snow, and maybe even some bighorn sheep)! The birds' nest is really a work of art. A couple of years ago, I found a nest that had fallen from a tree. Woven into the nest was a white satin ribbon. I just loved it and couldn't help wondering if it was the work of the male or the female. I pulled the ribbon out and put it into my journal. Your wreath for the front door is perfect for your cabin!

  2. We used to be the only people at the end of our dead end road. Then several years later, a huge house was built right across from us (in what was previously a farmer's field). Now another large house has been built kitty-corner to us. It's very different now. We have a rail fence leading up to our house with an arbour in it. We put lights on the fence and over the arbour. We were going to do it today, but ended up visiting with friends, so we will do it later this week. -Jenn

  3. Your lights look fabulous. I don't do a ton of decorating. I do like to bring some greens in. Don't put the tree up until about a week before Christmas. I like being able to say Merry Christmas to strangers and have them respond the same. I don't think I've ever had someone not say it regardless of what media says.

  4. I'm always amazed at how birds weave their nests and for that matter how spiders weave their webs.

  5. Hi Bonnie! My husband puts the lights up after Thanksgiving. Now it is snowing so much that it's much too cold to even think about it.
I have been washing table linens and thinking about trees. I like the sound of your lovely cabin. Happy Thanksgiving!
