I'm actually beginning to enjoy taking the puppy out for morning walks. It is peaceful and the sunrises are beautiful. If we get up early enough, I see the flying squirrels. It seems our little piece of the forest is full of them. I had one go right over my head the other morning. I thought he was going to land on me. My enjoyment came to a quick end when I saw the fella below on our game camera right behind the cabin. I always carry a walking stick and a small gun when we go. There have been many pets taken by lions in this area. My cousin had her dog snatched up right in front of her. Since I am not a morning person, Dollor could be gone before I know what happened.
I cleaned out the rose bed this weekend. Somehow the daisies got ahead of me and were choking everything else out. I also had to thin out the iris. Would anyone like some? I have plenty. On Saturday, I went to the Deadwood Jam. Marty Stuart and the Fabulous Superlatives played. They did not disappoint. I was even able to get in the front row.
I am extremely happy to report that I have pears. I never thought I would see the day. The trees were planted in 2013. They aren't the biggest pears or the prettiest, as they have been hailed on numerous times. Still, the one I ate was delicious.
A few more early morning walk photos. I have to say they are growing on me. Now if I could just get a picture of the flying squirrels.

Yes, I am a morning person, almost more so here in CO than back in FL. I love watching the sun make it's appearance. That yellow rose is gorgeous! Please post another shot while it's in transition to pink. Happy you're happy. Linda
ReplyDeleteNo morning walks here. I'd love some iris but too far to ship. Never have seen a flying squirrel. I hope you can get a photo sometime.
ReplyDeleteThose chipmunks' tunnel under our gardens and undermine our stone walls.
ReplyDeleteI am not a morning walker I like to linger over coffee and maybe read a bit and walk mid morning.

It is always wonderful to walk in the early morning, and the photo you show is so beautiful! Oh my, do be careful with those mountain lions. They are scary!
ReplyDeleteThe rose is such a lovely shade of yellow! How wonderful that you are able to get fruit from your trees! Yes, that chubby cheeked chipmunk is just so cute! I am a morning person. I get up before the sun does and enjoy walking the grounds and seeing what unfolds for the day. Enjoy these autumn days!
Dolloro is gorgeous. You are certainly surrounded by wildlife but I don't envy you the mountain lion
ReplyDeleteI have to do early morning walks, now because of my dog Polly. I wasn't to much since we had moved. At the other place, I liked nothing better than being out in the morning. It is just beautiful at your house. That is a big cat. When we hike with our dog, that is always on my mind. Something big getting my dog.
ReplyDeleteIts good you carry a gun. I love seeing all of the fall at your house this time of year. Your pears are lovely. How nice to finally get some to eat.
