Very early this spring we had a spot next to the house leveled for a barn. Of course, since it will be a while before we put a barn in. We will get it done someday. In the meantime, we needed to do some landscaping. What would we do if we didn't have a project to work on? I call it our barnyard project.
This is the beginning.
You may remember this photo. I promised we would make something out of those two posts.
Someday there will be a barn down there. Can you picture it? I can. We will have a barn dance for our grand opening.
I finally get to use my woodpile.

Here is the grand unveiling. A little ledge with chairs and a fire pit. The posts are recycled guardrail posts from a local highway project.

We are just waiting to get some top soil so we can bring soil up to the patio and then seed the lawn. I can't wait until it is surrounded by a sea of green.
Ella gives it her seal of approval.
Looks cozy huh? All I need now is a glass of wine and some marshmallows to roast.
I can see the barn but in the meantime I see a wonderful place to sit, drink some mellowing beverage and toasting marshmallows (or watching someone else). It is a wonderful space.
ReplyDeleteOh I am having a hard time deciding where to sit when I come for a visit now. The beautiful porch or that lovely spot I see you enjoying.
ReplyDeleteBarn dance ??? give me a call:) B
You may not want to give that up once the barn goes in. We have an open deck that we enjoy sitting on under the sky. We have our grill and a fire pit there to enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun project! Love the recycling aspect of it and a new barn...Fabulous! What will go in that wonderful barn of yours?
ReplyDeleteLooks great...I'll be over for S'mores!
ReplyDeleteThe new campfire site is just great and I can foresee many cozy nights seated there. The new barn will be a welcome addition to your gorgeous property, of that I'm sure. I love the quote on your new-old sign. It's just perfect!
ReplyDeleteOh you have to make another area if you use this site, it's great sitting around a fire!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I have an area similar to yours...you have given me some great ideas what to do with it!
ReplyDeleteDoes look cozy!
ReplyDeleteGreat way to repurpose cast offs!
I LOVE your front porch! Now you have a place in the shade and a spot near the fire. Both are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThat looks wonderful, bring out the marshmallows.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry but I am unable to comment on blogs that use word verification, I just can't puzzle out the letters and numbers they use. I managed this time...but it takes me forever to figure it out.
