Well, May is over and I am busy busy. The greenhouse was such a good investment. It is the first day of June and already I am harvesting produce. We have eaten more lettuce than ever before. Yes, those are pumpkins you see. I did not plant as many as last year. I do remember their attempted hostile takeover of the strawberry bed. Still, we did have pumpkins.
If you are wondering about getting a greenhouse let these two photos explain why it is such a good thing. The tomatoes in both of these photos were planted from seeds at the same time. One is planted outside and the other inside. The difference is amazing.
Please, do not let this innocent looking creature fool you. She is not guarding the basket. She is the carrot thief. Looks so sweet huh?

Every year we add a few more lengths to our orchard fence. It is getting harder and harder to take photos of, as it is getting bigger. Everything we've planted looks great. So far I've only lost one apple tree. Still it is trying for the impatient gardener. I have about 2 or 3 more years before it really starts producing.
I know this doesn't look like much, but it is the progress on our future barn projects. Those logs in the center are the beginnings of a retaining wall. If you look close there is a shimmer of green from the tiny grass sprouts. I would appreciate it if do not comment that you don't see the green. I keep telling my husband it is there. It is hard to see the possibilities, but keep following. I promise it will look good in the end.
Don't think we spent the whole time working. Every morning I sit in my chair and enjoy a few cups of coffee.
The bears even went fishing.
Oh, just look at all you've grown in your greenhouse! This was my first year with ours and I only focused on planting seeds... nothing in the ground yet. You've inspired me to give some things a try and see what happens! Your plants look wonderful... did you improve the soil where you planted the seeds?
ReplyDeleteOh Bonnie, it's glorious and I DO see the green!! I especially love the bears fishing...what happened to Goldilocks? XOXO
ReplyDeleteSome day maybe I'll get a greenhouse. That chair on the path looks like a very peaceful place to enjoy morning coffee.
ReplyDeleteThat wait for trees to produce may seem long, but nice when it starts.I have seen some large hoop houses growing a variety of crops, it seems you really need to use them.Love the watergarden, guess I never thought that small.
ReplyDeleteI see the green, too! Love your greenhouse produce. I have a greenhouse but all I plant are flowers, well, except for the ten tomato plants.
ReplyDeleteAll the progress you're making is amazing. Keep up the great work!
I am a GREEN fan...so I love this! The green in your greenhouse (and what's attached to it) is great!! And I do see a hint of green growing there...yeah!
ReplyDeleteYour dog (aka the carrot thief) has that look in his eye just like ours does when she's been digging a hole in the yard. Innocent...hah!
Your veggies look amazing.

Wonderful harvest! I love coming to visit your blog and seeing that front porch. You have such a wonderful place to have your morning coffee. One of my favorite things is to walk around my gardens each morning with coffee cup in hand. Nature provides us for such beauty to start the day off. We are blessed.
ReplyDeleteI had a greenhouse at my prior residence. When we moved I wanted to have it moved to this house. That didn't happen. Dear Hubby promised to build me a bigger and better one once we moved here ~ that didn't happen - yet. I'm going to have to put the bug back in his ear:)
ReplyDeletethose bears are the perfect addition to the front porch!!
ReplyDeletei remember well the hostile takeover....the greenhouse is amazing!!
