I thought I'd share some bird photos from the last week. We spent a few days visiting family. It was a great to see everyone. We had a wonderful time seeing my husband's family, my brother, and my sister's family.
A hungry Goldfinch. He was such a dapper looking fellow. They had changed to their yellow coat in Minnesota. Ours are in the process of changing colors.
This hungry Hummingbird was at my In-laws at Minnesota. Can you tell it was pouring out? Look at the droplets on his little head. You had better believe I put my feeders out as soon as I got home. Hope springs eternal.
This Cowbird is using yoga to get some seeds during the downpour. I was impressed with her persistence.
This House Finch struck a wonderful pose. This photo was taken at our feeders.
I haven't had time to look up what this little fellow. I sure enjoyed watching him hop around my flowerbeds looking for good stuff.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day. After spending the week with many little kids I must say I don't know how you mom's do everything.
I love seeing the birds; it reminds me of spending time with my Dad. Mother's Day is hard for me, not only missing my mom, but Kelly too. I spent it quietly, as I have done today on the anniversary of Kelly's death. It does look like Spring has finally come to your area and that makes me smile, XOXO
ReplyDeleteWow! That is a beautiful photo of the goldfinch! He's so bright. I love looking at the birds that other bloggers manage to capture with their cameras. I'm fine with flowers, they don't move much, and you don't scare them away when you come in close. Birds are hard.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures, I love watching the birds at the feeders.....the Goldfinch `s just arrived here, Francine.
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots Bonnie I love every one of them. I am glad you had a great time with your family. Kids keep you young they say but I think they make you want a nap:) B
ReplyDeleteOutstanding bird photos!!! My camera's zoom isn't good enough to get this good of shots. I'm a bit envious of your camera (and photography skills) - lol. I think the last one is a pine siskin. I believe a pine siskin is part of the finch family. Loved your post, Bonnie!
ReplyDeleteSounds like an energetic vacation! I haven't had any gold finches visit my feeders yet this year. I would have had them by now at our old house. I love looking to see what varieties of birds are visiting. I've got to figure out a way to keep the squirrels out of my feeders though. Cheers, Jenni
ReplyDeleteLovely birds - your goldfinch is very different to our goldfinch and your house finch look very much like what we call a redpoll male.
ReplyDeletebeautiful captures...
ReplyDeleteThe yellow of the Goldfinch is absolutely beautiful which is much in keeping with its name. I don't think we have such birds in the tropics. The Cowbird seems to live by the philosophy,'if there's a will, there's a way' - a real winning attitude.
ReplyDeleteTerrific bird photos. Our goldfinches are still "changing their suits." No yellow tuxedos here yet.
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie, Your photographs of the various birds are really wonderful! I loved the House Finch and also that Goldfinch. Have a wonderful day and a most pleasant weekend.
