More visitors and the yellow rose...

This week's visitor is more welcome than last week's visitor.  She wanders by once a day on her way to somewhere important.  I'm hoping she has a nest nearby and soon will parade by with some chicks.
The yellow rose is blooming.  It is so beautiful!  It is easy to take pictures of them.  I wish I could convey the fragrance.  It is too bad they only bloom once a year, but it is certainly worth the wait.
These iris also have a strong smell.  I love the color as it matches many other flowers.
I could take photos of these all day long.  I believe the true name is Harrison's Yellow.
Ok, last one.  I probably have a hundred photos like this.  It is almost an addicition.
This little fellow is a wild rose.  They are everywhere on our property.  They also have a wonderful scent.
I got a nice close up of this moth.  I tried to get photos of the swallowtails, as they are everywhere.  They are too fast for me, but I haven't given up.
I'm afraid that is all that is happening.  It won't be long and my garden will be in full bloom.  Right now I just piddle around pulling weeds, fertilizing, and making a few tweeks.  What are you doing in your gardens?

  1. The rose is lovely. Perfume is a must for me when buying a rose. Have you seen any more of the lion.

  3. Last summer I had tons of swallowtails, this year, maybe it's still early, but I've only sighted a few. I did have a Monarch, which I was excited to see. Your roses look wonderful and I'm planning on a trip this week to one of our famous rose gardens...I'll post photos:-D

  4. I agreed to take on a garden plot. there are only 4 of them in a fenced in garden. Not a lot of sun and I have no need to grow vegetables. So I'll put in annuals since next year the entire garden area that includes the plot is to be redone. Off today to buy some annuals I can cut and bring in the apartment.

  5. I walk past my beds looking for something new. Laughed putting some snapdragons where I planted a few cannas from last year. The cannas hadn't came up and I found one corm that the squirrels had dug and figured that was it. This week, 5 weeks later, here is a few cannas coming up. Lol

  7. I love your roses. That is a beautiful turkey. How nice to be able to see her with her babies soon. I hope that mountain lion stays far away.
Your garden is just fantastic. I keep mulching my garden, everything is about a foot high. Except the tomatoes they are going crazy. Having 100 degree temps are worth it for tomatoes. Have a nice week.

  10. I didn't know that yellow rose is called Harrison's Yellow. I always called it Rambling Rose because it does spring up everywhere. It does smell SO wonderful. Pretty iris too. Does it have a grapey smell? My daughter had some iris that had an almost grape smell to them.

I've been weeding my gardens. The never-ending job. I do like it though, I'm up-close and personal with everything that way!
