The family cookbook is never going to be done. Just when I think I'm close I find more pictures or more recipes. Between that and hunting I didn't get much else done. This is my first time making my grandma's sour cream chocolate cake. Sorry you have to look at my cheesy smile. I'm thought the recipe deserved a picture. I also made my mother's chocolate frosting. I keep trying recipes to make sure I got them right in the cookbook.
I did go to a friend's house. We try to have a girls weekend every 3-4 months. We've picked grapes, gone to yoga class, gone snowshoeing, had Sunday dinner, and this time she taught me how to throw a pot.As you can see from the look on my face it is intense. At least you can tell it's a pot. Problem is it was supposed to be a bird feeder. Ha, ha, ha and I'm not joking. Sometimes you just need to know your limitations. When was the last time you learned something new?
I think that I learn something new everyday, even though it may only be a little thing. When I was studying to be a teacher, art was one of my main subjects. We had a session or too on throwing pots. The person on the wheel next to me must have not seated the clay correctly as it whizzed off the wheel and into my effort. It may even have improved it,
ReplyDeleteI think that's a great pix! I'm not sure what I'm learning - oh maybe knitting. I have been learning for a while, but am making my first sock. I'm a slow learner:-) My goal is to be able to make my own socks.
ReplyDeleteThat's a very cool thing to try - pottery - I hope it ended up looking neat, whatever it was! I'm guessing perhaps that is a brother of yours? That's true, there is sometimes a cost to freedom. Your cake looks amazing, by the way. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteI was appointed to make our family's cookbook way back when. It took me so very long, in the days before the internet and word processing. But I doubt the internet and marvels of the digital age make it any easier. It's just a lot of work! By the way, your birdpot looks good!
ReplyDeleteHow fun learning to throw a pot. As a first timer that is fantastic. Mine never looked that good.
ReplyDeleteWe left our potters wheel at our other house. I bet your cookbook is fantastic. I think that is a cute picture.
I hope you have a fantastic weekend.
