Who has been tromping through my garden?

Yesterday morning I found that we had a surprise guest during the night.  It seems a rather large horse took a tour of the gardens under the cover of darkness.  Thankfully, it opted not to munch it's way through.  It is truly a surprise guest, since there are no horses in the area.  I never saw the actual horse, just tracks and a nice pile of fertilizer.  No photos of the road apples; they were promptly put in the outdoor compost pile.

I must say I am quite curious where my visitor came from and where it went to.   My brother said it was checking to see the progress on the barn project. If that is the case it will have a long wait.

It always proves interesting at our little cabin in the woods.  I will be anxious to see if my wandering friend returns.

  1. How interesting! A wild mustang? Probably not. I wonder if you can set a trap for a horse...LOL Hope your plants survived being stepped on.

  2. You need to set up a trail cam! ;)
We set on up on different places on our property and it quite fun to see what calls your place home when you're not looking.

  3. WOW! No one owns horses near you? I wonder where this "escapee" came from. At least it wasn't large BEAR tracks.

  4. Oh! What was that little plant that got smooshed? We had something in our yard and my husband set up a game camera. You've just given me inspiration for my next post! LOL. (I'll give you a hint what we have.....it has a little mask over it's eyes!)

  6. That's wild! I have prints of a different nature - deer. And they eat EVERYTHING. But I have found that Liquid Fence works beautifully and have not lost a single plant this year! Maybe you can set up a motion camera and get some pictures of your midnight visitor! How fun!

  8. Bonnie, Where's the yellow tape for the crime scene! LOL!! My visitors are usually deer, but they don't seem to munch on anything either...just pass through as if we're a short cut to where they're going. XOXO

  9. Not a good visitor to have.I have seen cattle who roamed all summer in a prairie area who avoided being caught.

  12. Well, that's interesting. You'd not expect a horse to be wandering through the gardens in the middle of the night.

  15. And a polite one, right? Left a "present" and did not tromp over your gardens, staying within the path.

Thank you for identifying that gorgeous bird for me. I mean it. You are a sweet lady and I love coming here to visit with you.
