Ladies and Gentlemen this is not a kitty cat. Our game camera caught a glimpse of this mountain lion at 3:00pm. It was a 90 degree day less then 100 yards from our house. I'm really glad Ella's kennel has a roof.
Oh my! Kind of scary! I know they are around here too (Iowa) because numerous persons have seen them. However, the Dept of Natural Resources refuses to believe/acknowledge they are here unless one gets a photo. Just last week, two individuals, not in the same family, reported sightings in the Des Moines area. They sure are big!
They are stealthy and probably around you a lot. I had one walk past my tent while I was visiting another camper and I laughed thinking I was camping alone for the week.Whitetail deer population burst keep them in our area.
A town in northeastern Kentucky has had four lion sightings in the past month, though none have been confirmed. They are extremely rare here, to the point no one believes sightings without proof. I can't imagine having one that close to my house! Seeing that photo on my trail cam would give me pause.
Just caught up on your last three posts... What a wonderful summer-- full of wildlife...probably more than you would like sometimes... Summers in the U.P....I sometimes find myself laying in bed at night asking," did I feed everything? Kids, Hubby, pups, plants, birds....etc? Mothers work is never done.....Keep smiling.
Has it been dry or is she looking for food? That would be a scary encounter no matter what time of day. I guess that's the price you pay for living amongst the wildlife. Stay safe, XOXO
Oh heck!!! I know it was hot but that is dang close to your house. In broad daylight too. Have you seen them before that close to your house? Your pictures are so lovely and I love your header picture. It is beautiful. Thank you so much for saying those flowers were Cosmos. I have stood and stared at them and I kept thinking I know these are something else but I couldn't think of what. When you said that the light bulb went off. I am positive they are Cosmos. I planted those myself and I took the seeds out of a German Camomile seed packet. I will have to send a picture and a note to the company I always buy seeds from. They are the sweetest couple and I am sure I can't be the only one. :) Now I can enjoy them knowing what they are. Be careful out in your yard.
Oh that is very scary. B
ReplyDeleteYikes!

ReplyDeleteIt's very scary that a cat that big is so close to your house. It's neat that you caught it on camera, though.
