It is kind of like snowshoeing...

I do a lot of snowshoeing during the winter.  My quilt is moving from the dance phase to the snowshoeing phase.  I just keep trudging along.  I finished the blocks (I enjoy sewing blocks), put everything together for the top, then had to piece the borders together.
This is the backing below.  It doesn't show the true color.  It is a beautiful blue.  Now that the borders are done it is the next thing I have to trudge through.  Cutting, basting, then (finally) the quilting.
Just like snowshoeing, my progress is slow.  It is a nice way to wish away the winter.   I was able to go in and change the block that was backwards.  Once I get the backing and batting basted, It should be smooth sailing.  I'm sure I will regret that statement.  I know it is hard to see, but please observe that my geese in the border are all flying in the right direction.  A first for this project.
There isn't much else going on.  We have lots of snow.  I was sick the past two weekends.  It is good to be healthy again.  I dug my way into the greenhouse.  It was nice to just stand there and smell the soil, while it snowed like crazy outside.  I hope everyone else is staying productive. Is there a project that you have a love/hate relationship with?

  1. I got to use the pins they use for quilting last Saturday. We were making wash kits with a washcloth made into a holder for a comb toothbrush and toothpaste.I was the pinner while three ladies sewed. These roll up and are secured with a ribbon. They will go to a mission, but not as fast as expected.I plan on buying some pins and showing up for this again next month, much to the favor of the Methodist ladies.Putting a few attempts toward the garden. I joined a commercial gardener club that meets every month. We formulated a list of best varieties, plus shared a list complied of customer favorites over the last 3 years.

  2. Your quilt is looking great! Our snow finally melted & yesterday was actually warm enough, I got a couple things done-up outside & took stock of all the work that lay ahead (fallen branches!, leaves, etc.)

  4. I am sorry you were sick, I am glad you are feeling better. I have had to be on antibiotics for some dental work I have to have, made me sicker than a dog. I don't normally ever take them. I think for me quilting is like snowshoeing with one on and one off. I end sitting and ripping out more than I think I sew. I do enjoy it though. I love your quilt, I think it is coming along nicely.
My daughter brought me some spring goodies. It does make me just long for playing in the soil. I plan on going to tractor supply and looking at seeds today. I love that store. I hope you have a lovely rest of the week.
