Spring?

I'm afraid there hasn't been much to write about.  Things are pretty slow here in the hills.  I have been doing quite a bit of housekeeping, hiking, and a lot of sitting around waiting for spring.  It was quite warm Saturday and my husband and I took the opportunity to look for sheds out on our prairie property.  There were several geese on the river.   Everything was melted off and we enjoyed sitting on the river bank watching the fish.  Next time we will bring poles.

The goldfinches have been a mainstay at my feeders.  I would enjoy their company more if I didn't know that as soon as they turn golden they will disappear.
The sunrises and sunsets have been incredible.  Very vivid and crisp.  We still have lots of snow here in the hills.  Ella and I go for a hike every weekend.  The snow is finally hard enough that I don't need snowshoes.  March is around the corner.  Perhaps spring is in the air.

  1. Signs of spring everywhere! We have no snow and it's been really warm here. Almost too warm for February. We'll hope for some good spring rains. Have you started any seeds yet?

  3. We're alternating between spring and winter weather. It's quite bizarre! 56° one day, snowing and 25° the next. I haven't been on snowshoes this winter because we haven't had a enough snow. I caught myself listening for woodcock over the weekend. They won't be back for at least another month but it felt like early April.

  4. Though I typically like the longer evenings of winter, I am about ready for spring, fresh air, and color.

  7. Spring is definitely in the air and ground here. By sheds I take it you don't mean buildings but antlers? Is that right?

  8. We too are starting to see signs of Spring and even though the winter here does not require snow shoes, I will be very glad to get over that hump and into Spring.

  9. No signs of spring yet in my part of Ontario. I did not know that about goldfinches. When we see them, they are just bright yellow males and pale yellow females. -Jenn
