I had the opportunity to travel with a good friend of mine to a training in Anaconda, Montana this week. We had so much fun. I don't know how I get so lucky. LaVera and I laughed dang near the whole trip. Normally a ten hour drive (eleven if you stop at an antique store) over two mountain passes in early spring is no laughing matter.
Another enjoyable part of the trip was the principal at the Job Corps, where the training was held, is also a friend. We are very similar. We both started working at Job Corps 25 years ago. We became principals around the same time. Both of us are avid outdoors women and hunt (we have both shot bears). We are realists with a healthy amount of skepticism. Life is beautiful.
It was nice to do a little traveling. We somehow missed the big South Dakota blizzard. In fact, we even stayed at a very nice hotel in Anaconda the Fairmont Warm Springs. I highly recommend it if you are avoiding a blizzard.
Everything worked out perfectly. When I got home the weather had warmed up enough so Kelly and I could finish the observation deck.
I guess that is my weekly observations. It is sure nice to have good friends and great memories. I will always remember that trip as one filled with laughter and good company. I am thankful every day for the choices I have made that have led me to such a fabulous life. Did I mention that I came back to a good foot and a half of snow, fully expecting my Jeep to be buried in snow, only to find the staff and students had it all shoveled out for my return? I almost cried. I guess the t-shirt company is right "Life is Good."
Have you ever gone on a road trip with a close friend? Have a great week.
