Perfect...

Today turned out perfect.  We had long awaited company.  My neighbors/relatives growing up came out for a visit.  I have been so excited that they would finally see our cabin.

Despite the fact it was supposed to rain, I prepared for this visit in advance.  I had my bird feeders stocked and made sure my Western Tanagers, grossbeaks, chickadees, and nuthatches were used to people on the porch.

We have been lucky enough to have four mating pairs of tanagers this year.  They look so sharp with their red and yellow feathers.  They put on a show for our guests, along with my other birds.  Even the turkey and hummingbird wandered through.

I made my go to peach cobbler and homemade ice cream. Instead of lemonade, coffee to ward off the chill.
Everything went exactly as planned.  My daffodils and tulips were in full bloom.  It didn't get too cool or rain, so we could tour the gardens and relax on the porch.  We had a great visit filled with laughter and stories.

I don't know what could have been better than a day with family, flowers, food, and feathered friends.  I am thankful everyone was able to stop by, that things turned out, and we were able to enjoy the afternoon.

When was the last time you had a good visit with your family and friends?  Where do people normally gather in your home?

  3. What a perfect day for family to visit. Last time here was yesterday on the occasion of Emily's 41st. They brought lunch to eat with us on our deck after church.

  4. What a pretty bird. It's strange to see that your garden is full of what we class as spring bulbs.
