This and that...

I've been doing a lot of snowshoeing lately.  It is a good cure for cabin fever.  Sometimes you see the strangest things.  I've lived up here for 12 years now and I've never seen a squirrel as industrious as this one.  He had about six of these piles and tunnels everywhere.  He was finding plenty to keep busy.

In the photo above of Ella and I, it was -5, but today it was 40 and there was actually a light rain.  It smells like spring.  I know better, but it sure smelled good.
Ella is of course my happy snowshoeing partner.  She is always on the lookout for pine cones.  As you can see below, she will chase a pine cone anywhere.

I didn't just take a hike.  I also did quite a bit of house cleaning, made bread, made wine, and did some garden planning.
The weather has been warmer.  Maybe tomorrow I'll have coffee on the porch.  It is amazing what one can get accomplished during a 3 day weekend.  I almost feel caught up.

  2. I like your bread bowl. My mom had a larger one and I felt it was a required article for everyone's kitchen when I first moved from home. Made a nice cracked wheat rye bread the other day.My dogs have been going below the snow following vole and mice scents. It is melting here, going to be 50. Your alpine setting is a real charmer, I haven't been out to the slopes this year yet.

  3. Weather report here is for sunny day except they forgot to look outside. Lightly snowing right now. It won't amount to much. Your snow looks lovely but I'll let you keep it. LOL

  4. It is just beautiful. It has been smelling like spring here too, I can't figure out where the smell of flowers is coming from.
I have always wanted to learn how to snowshoe. Have a lovely day off.

  5. Baking bread is always a good chore in the winter--the house smells lovely and what a wonderful reward when it's done. My Kelly loved to snowshoe...I've never tried it, but maybe one day, XOXO
