Drat...

Anyone who has followed me for awhile knows what 'drat' means.

Drat means shoveling and the beginning of winter.

At least we were able to enjoy fall, even if it was for one month while winter lasts for 9 months.

I've used my time off to continue canning.  Yesterday, I made some raspberry jam.  Last week, I also went to Spearfish to get material for this year's graduation quilt.  On the way to the quilt shop I passed this gentleman on the road.

I found this woodland panel at the quilt shop.  It will be perfect.  Now I'm trying to figure out what I want to do with the rest of it.  I always enjoy working on a quilt during the winter.

So fall fell and now winter begins.  I have a freezer full of meat, berries, and garden harvest.  There is a project to keep me busy.   I'm ready to settle in for the winter.  How about you.  Has fall fallen where you are?  Are you ready for winter?

  1. Oh, ick!! I am definitely not ready for winter, but we are going into the single digits at night (celsius) (zero degrees is freezing). I still have to pull out my tomato cages! Your picture may inspire me to do that today. Happy quilting. -Jenn

  2. Not ready for winter here. Thankfully I think we've got more time than you. We need to get the house painting finished. Had the contractor here for 7 days straight but not more than 4 hours at a stretch. He sent regrets for today so that pushed back finishing day. Must get it done and storm windows back on - Dan's job.

  3. You have worked so hard all summer getting ready for this! We have had a few chilly mornings, but still haven’t started up the heaters. We had a big snow last February, so that was enough to do me for a couple of years!

  4. Oy! That was quick. We are "in" fall and nope, not ready for winter. I need about 2 more weeks to wrap things up. I do like the long evenings though. I say that but then am chomping at the bit come spring to get out in the garden.
