I try to be positive, but I am just plain sick of winter. Ella, on the other hand, is not. Winter is just as fun and exciting as any other season. It is hard to turn her down when she begs for a walk. Even when it is flat 0 degrees outside. Today I gave in to her enthusiasm, put on my snowshoes, and we took a hike.
Ella was overjoyed! She took full advantage of our time together. As the saying goes, "She lived like someone left the gate open." Can you say happy dog? My grouchy despise winter disposition quickly dissipated. Maybe all this snow isn't so bad.
After all, the views were very pretty. If you look closely you can see Orman Dam. I also noticed nestled among the hills is a little farm. I did observe that there doesn't seem to be any snow on the prairie.
But then again, the snow does give Ella an nice frosty sheen. She looks so elegant.
The sky was a vivid blue and the wind wasn't blowing for a change.
The landscape was dazzling. Everything just stood out; The clouds against the blue sky and the shadows against the gleaming white snow.
Despite the cold, I quickly warmed up while snowshoeing. The woods were quiet. There were no tracks. It was like Ella and I had the world to ourselves.
An enthusiastic dog paired with a panoramic view is a nice way to spend the day.
Awesome photos ~ glad Ella reminded you of how to have some fun even when the snow gets a bit much . lol She does look quite beautiful and happy in the Winter wonderland !
ReplyDeleteI love these photos, especially the one of Ella jumping for joy, and the shadows at the end! What a view you have...you must be WAY up there, in elevation! I'm glad you were able to enjoy the day, despite the snow.
ReplyDeletei happen to LOVE snow!! ella is adorable, i love the second "action" shot!!
ReplyDeletei posted the same "shadow" image of myself, today on my blog!! have a happy sunday!!
Lots of good shots and fun. I like Ella running, her face looks a lot like my dog Lily after a good walk.Gave me a good laugh.
ReplyDeleteThe snow is wonderful. I have adapted. But the horrid frigid temps have been rough. It's a constant battle to remind myself of gratitudes. Ripley is the same as Ella--- loves to snowshoe.... I guess I need to look at winter through someone else's eyes. Thanks---
ReplyDeleteLovely photos ! Ella is like our Miggs , she loves the snow . I go out for a walk and play with Miggs in the yard every day unless there is a storm , I find if I am dressed for it in layers I am good and I am used to it now cause winters in Canada can be nasty to with lots of snow and cold , last month was soo cold wind chills were - 40 almost every day but this weekend has been so mild rainy and sunshine here and there the snow is melting like crazy thanks goodness and it feels like spring , I wish lol . Our weather has always been so unpredictable I don't think we are out of the woods yet as the saying goes for me being in the woods is the best lol ! Thanks for sharing . Have a good week !
ReplyDeleteGood girl Ella! You got your owner over the hurdle of getting out there! We all need a nudge sometimes!
ReplyDeleteBelas fotografias...Espectacular....

Ella and the Black Hills look like a great excuse to get outside! You did a great job capturing the beauty of both.
ReplyDeleteThursday night we got 2-3" of snow. Any day with out wind is a true blessing.
The pictures of Ella bring back wonderful memories of enjoying winter with a dog we used to have years ago.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos and what a lovely dog you have!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, and your dog is a sweetheart! Animals are great at teaching us to enjoy the moment. Greetings from Montreal, Canada.
ReplyDeleteGreat dog and great photos! We've been in the single digits and below for a week. I will now be grateful that my pup goes outside and then quickly runs back in!
ReplyDeleteThat was a fun trip! I haven't tried snowshoes this winter, just sticking to the x-c skis for now, but look at Ella go! What exuberance, and how contagious. My two old dogs can't take the cold on their paws any more, so no more winter walkies for them.
ReplyDeleteThe scenery is absolutely stunning, you live in a fantastically beautiful area.
I love the last shot of Ella - that is one happy dog!
